
Hal Wiggin

Bio
Hal Wiggin is a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt (CSSMBB) who has been involved in government and agency organizational and process improvement activities for over 30 years. He was Director of Planning and Quality Improvement for the Broward County Children's Services Council and Regional Manager of Performance and Planning for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Hal started his career as a mental health counselor and school psychologist before completing a doctoral program in educational leadership. He is a planner, trainer, and quality
improvement professional. Besides Lean Six Sigma (LSS), Hal has specific expertise in strategic planning, measurement systems, the Malcolm Baldrige model, situational leadership, coaching, and group facilitation. Healthcare has been his primary focus for the past several years. He received the 2015 and 2019 Golden Apple Awards for excellence in teaching LSS at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and he developed a process improvement curriculum concentration at the COM. He also helped their health Informatics program obtain CAHIIM accreditation. Recent consulting activities have included projects addressing hospital boarding,
revenue cycle management, community care (case management) for Medicaid patients, High Reliability Organization (HRO) training, and perioperative system improvement. Hal provides these services through his company, SH&L Quality Consulting, Inc. and he is a Principal in the Sterling Academy. Finally, he is a co-author of The Lean Management Systems Handbook (CRC Press, 2014) and articles on process improvement.
